Tuna España
Tuna España
I can't quite remember which caught my attention first: the flash of ruffled lace cuffs peeking out from under velvet jackets and capes adorned with ribbons, or the sweet sound of music floating through the air. But one thing was certain: I was utterly captivated by these men. I followed them through the winding streets, drawn in by their lively tunes and the growing crowd of locals enveloping them.
It wasn't long before I found myself among 300 colourful figures. They were the Tunas, a group of Spanish folk musicians who had come together to keep the old traditions alive for a charity event. With their guitars, tambourines, and harmonicas, they sang songs that spoke of love, adventure and the joys of life.
I was swept up in the magic and before long, my voice contributed to the sound that filled the streets of Cordoba:
Ay, ay, ay, ay
Canta y no llores
Porque cantando se alegran
Cielito lindo, los corazones
